belle of the boulevard

So today i didn't go to uni, i know shock horror, but i felt like it would be a birthday present to myself, well that was my justification anyways. Instead i went off to the lovely city of bendigo to spend a day with my best friend. let me tell you it was weird not going to uni, mind you i have done it before. what's with me and skipping uni and going to the country. and my parents have no clue, i mean i don't lie, well i just omit some stuff and tell half the truth. hehe i love the country, it is so awesome. so i caught the train, and i love catching long distance train rides by myself, i feel like i'm in a movie leaving my life behind and going to see my lover in a far away place. except i don't have a lover, i didn't leave my life behind and my life isn't a movie, but its fun to dream, stupid taylor swift and her unrealistic songs depicting love. (nah i'm kidding, i love taylor swift, her songs are awesome and kinda makes me sad but hopeful simultaneously).
anywho, this time i arrived in bendigo, i knew my way around and i didn't get lost like last time, ahh last time....
so i met up with Y and i saw her new residence, its not as big as her old one though. she has a fridge, and it chocablock full of 'up and go', seriously i should of taken a photo, there were so many bottles.
so we made our way to the city centre, so weird calling it that. we walked down the main street and i was surprised at the all the modern shops, yes i have old fashioned views about the country. there were most of the shops they have in melbourne and the good thing is that they are not as crowded and the sales assistants are very nice, i mean they are nice in melbourne too, but here in bendigo there is a different air of niceness. yeah so the whole point of this outing was to go op shopping and op shopping we did go. i think we looked like tourists because while we were looking a map, a nice lady came up to us and asked if we needed any help, she was so friendly that we were taken a back, something like that would never happen in melbourne. yeah so we hit our first op shop and it wasn't so great and we left empty handed. but with the next couple of op shops we did pretty well. Y walked away with some books while i bought some more clothes and books and and i also found a backpack for uni, hopefully it will handle all the weight of my books and laptop. i shall show you pictures of the things i bought in another post. i thought it was a very fruitful outing and we managed to go to all the op shops that i had on the map. i think we must of walked around the city centre so many times, we kept going around in circles. by the end, my legs were killing from the non stop walking and the bags that i was lugging around but it was so worth it. the weather wasn't too bad, it was raining but not too heavy. after we went to the last op shop, we decided to go into a lolly store, where i think sold some things were cheaper, i was so tempted to get so many lollies but i had to restrain myself, there was a 1.3kg bag of pineapples and i love pineapples, i really wanted to buy it but i think my teeth has suffered enough. maybe i can grab it for my picnic but i dunno if anyone else likes pineapples as much as i do.
we had a late lunch and i finally had my KFC craving, it felt so good afterwards but then i felt guilty for eating such unhealthy food.
oh yeah the lollies i bought were some rainbow twizzlers, for anyone who has seen them in real life, they are the most vibrant of colours and look so awesome, i also bought some toffee apples bars which i loved as a primary school kid and i bought some milk carton lollies, they are lollies that come in a milk carton. they were my favourite lollies as a kid, my mum used to buy them all the time when i was small. and Y came away with a pretty tidy haul herself. when i got home i searched up the rainbow twizzlers and unluckily for me there were very bad reviews and i got sad because i was going to bring them into uni to share around and i didn't want to give my friends bad lollies. so then i opened them and had a taste, they are not too bad, but i personally prefer the raspberry twisters from willy wonka more, i was really looking forward to the watermelon one but the taste was quite artificial. so i decided they are good enough to share with my friends.
here are some snaps from the fun day.

Thanks Y for the fun day in bendigo, so much better than going to uni. =)

Love Squealer.
