Misery

It's been a busy past couple of weeks, desperately trying to spend as much time as possible with friends. I still haven't come to terms that I have to leave them behind in Melbourne, and I don't even want to think about making new friends. You'd think after two years I would have some experience and not have this anxious and nauseating feeling, but my friends have sort of just happened without much effort and I've always had someone I knew, a security blanket, if you will. There has been something going on pretty every day which hasn't happened ever, somehow I've managed to make plans and it almost almost feels like highschool, where i get to see friends everyday.
This is what has happened starting from last last saturday, sorry it's going to be boring written post.
-Nayomi had a garage sale which was pretty fun. It was my first garage sale so that was cool. It was fun to see everyone and catch up. There was a couple of exercise equipment set up in the front yard and we were playing around on them, being the unfit people we are, there was some struggle.
-Spent the day at Monisha's house, with Susan, Sharline, Yen and Nugget. This was the first time I've seen them since before my holiday and it was good to catch up with them. I brought over some sushi I made, and for one of the batches of rice, i accidentally added salt instead of sugar. In order to make up for the saltiness, i added a lot of sugar and vinegar to mask the taste. We watched Eden Lake, which had the most unsatisfying ending, we were yelling at Monisha for making us watch the movie. The movie was good until the ending, and so it left us with this unsettling feeling. We tried to find another movie that was happy and uplifting, but by the time we settled on a movie, it was too late to change our moods.
-I hung out with Yen in the city. After waiting an hour, i realized something might was up. I didn't call her because I thought her phone was working properly. I was supposed to meet Yen at 11, and by 12 I got a phone call saying she has just woken up. Lucky i bumped into Vivian, Mary and Brit who hung out with me.Nonetheless, she finally came into the city and we just wondering aimlessly and catching up.
-I had an op-shopping day with Susan, to reciprocate for the time she took me op shopping in her hood. It was such an awesome day; i haven't been op shopping in a while so this was pretty exciting! And i could actually drive around this time. I bought way too many shirts/blouses but it was super cheap, and i can donate back to charity if i don't get around to wearing them. we had a nice picnic lunch by the lake in moonee ponds, which was pretty cool.
-Went to chadstone with Yen and Monisha to watch Shame. It was a pretty good movie despite the graphic-ness of the movie. There was heaps of skin and other bodily parts shown but I got through it. we had lunch at wagamama, and even took a cheesy photo in front of the sign. The only reason why we ate there was because my band guys love that place, but i've heard it's much better in america and the UK. So the food wasn't that great, and I admit my mum could make fried noodles way better.

-Had a farewell dinner for Tom at a pub in the city. It was so good to see everyone in the pharmacy group again, it has been a while. I'm so proud of Tom for getting into med and really happy for him.
-Went to St Kilda festival with Susan and Sharline for the first time. There were so many people, I didn't expect the festival to be so massive. Everyone looked so cool, stylish and hipster, i felt like such an outsider and uncool. It was fun rocking up to watch bands judged by the coolness/weirdness of their names because we haven't heard any of the bands before. I loved how the whole festival is free, it's a pretty awesome experience. And the rides were cool too, there was this abseiling one but the costs were too expensive. @monisha, the festival would have been a perfect to play the least favorite/favorite food game ;)
-Drove to Tom's house for lunch. It was so cool and the table setting was formal. We played monopoly, and it was my first time playing. Now that I've been to London, I recognized most of the street names and places, which made me biased in which properties i wanted to buy.
Then Nugget and I headed off to Monisha's house for dinner. Sharline and Susan were already. They told me to eat this thing that they call "pikelets", they looked like biscuits. At first I ate a half raw one, and it tasted funny. Then I had a cooked one and it was okay, it tasted like something that i couldn't quite recall. Sharline told me to guess what the "pikelets" were supposed to be, and she said it was profiteroles. I started laughing at their baking failure, they blamed it on the masterchef recipe. It was the last time I would see Sharline before she heads off on her Asia trip.
-Watched This Means War with Yen. I pre-bought the movie tickets when hoyts had that $8.50 ticket. The session at Melb Central was an extreme screen one and we were prepared to pay the extra fee. But turned out that we didn't need to pay anything. We were very shocked. I've been to extreme screen before at MC, and i don't remember it being that nice. There were leather seats and the screen was massive; the turnout was small so that was good. We spotted an elderly man going by himself, so we started coming up with his background story. The movie was pretty good and satisfying. The ending was somewhat unexpected, and Chris Pine's british accent was very cool. Take it from me, don't go to movies when you're sleepy or tired, you may end up falling asleep for some scenes.
Spent the afternoon with Van and Tom, we ate at the Lindt cafe because we couldn't settle on somewhere to eat. The chocolate milkshake was delicious and you can taste the good quality-ness of the chocolate they used. Prices were quite expensive, so i was cringing watching a little boy in front of us proceed to play with his sundae and not finishing it.
-Had the get together at my place. Very happy that people turned up, especially my latrobe friends because I haven't seen them in a while. We mostly played band hero, as we always do when there's a thing at my place. My latrobe friends made me this photo collage in a frame and it is really cool, I haven't gotten a photo scrap book thingy before, and it was exciting. I'm going to miss them a lot, we've gotten quite close in the past year. That's the bad thing about moving so many times, once you've found your rhythm and place, everything changes and you have to start over.
Jennie bought along her instant camera and it was so big, but that meant the photos were big so that was pretty cool. Every time she wanted to take a photo, we kept yelling at her to not waste the photos because it's so permanent. I'm glad she took some instant photos for me because they look awesome, normal digital photos don't look quite as good.
Then somehow, Monisha, Susan, Nugget and I started air banding with the band hero instruments. Nugget on drums, Susan on bass, Monisha on lead guitar and I on vocals. For those who haven't done this before, we had such a fun time, it was a blast! Despite only getting through about four songs, we were very sweaty and tired afterwards, imagine playing the songs for real. it gave me a lot more appreciation for my bands and their abilities to play those long sets. Tom and Thanh were still there, and they were watching us 'perform', yep I did feel sorry for them.

Love Squealer.
