On the Wednesday, it was the Dashboard Confessional, Jack's Mannequin and Relient K sidewave. For those who don't know, I have loved Dashboard Confessional (Chris Carrabba solo) since year 6 or 7, and have been wanting to see him live ever since. It was such devastating news that Soundwave Revolution was cancelled because I was so looking forward to seeing him. But after the cancellation, I held onto the hope that he will come next year (this year) for Soundwave. After Dashboard Confessional being announced for SW12, I was beyond happy. Knowing that this crowd won't be as eager, I took my time getting to the venue. Before heading off to line up, I roaming around the city searching for band guys but no such luck. At around 3.30, i took a tram to the Prince Bandroom in St Kilda. I really like the area as much as i don't belong or fit into the atmosphere, but the environment is really pretty considering it's beach side. By the time I got to the venue, there was no one waiting and i didn't want to be the first one in line. So i waited for a bit across the road on a bench. Then I saw Chris and co walking in and then i started freaking out, almost on the verge of crying. As some people started to line up, I quickly crossed the road and lined up. I quite like this crowd of people, there were heaps of people who were waiting to go to the concert, they would walk by the venue and see the line and continue off rather than line up. Then Susan showed up and lined up with me, it was good having company, makes time go by a lot quicker. Then Julia and her friend showed up and lined up with us. I was getting very excited closer to the opening doors. While getting into the venue, it was quite dark and Susan and I got a bit lost about where the stage was. Luckily we still managed to nab a front row spot, and it was one of those stages where you were right at the edge, and that was just so awesome. I didn't know Relient K's song but they were good live. Jack's Mannequin was so awesome, I wished i had a chance to listen to his older albums but i never got a chance. Finally it was Dashboard Confessional's time, and i was front row and centre, the best and closest i could get to Chris. Omg, there are no words to describe his set, it was beyond what I had imagined it would be. He is so perfect, all nice and very polished looking. He is exactly the type of guy i want to marry so I'm pretty much going to be forever alone, too many expectations and i'm not exactly a catch or the best person to get along with. But Chris is amazing live, just him and his guitar which sounded so good. I loved watching him self tune his guitar and interacting with the crowd, he was just so gorgeous. It was well worth the 8 years that I've been waiting. After the concert, Julia, Susan and I waited around a bit for them to come out. Then Andrew from Jack's Mannequin came out and did some photos and signings. He said he liked my t-shirt and asked me where i got it from, it was a dashboard confessional tshirt. For some reason, I found myself really giddy and happy that he liked my tshirt. I've only gotten into him recently, but he is really nice with his fans, just casually talking and being so comfortable. Sadly Chris didn't come out after the show, but I was just happy being able to see him perform. I didn't want the night to end, but of course I had another concert the day after.
Stayed tune for ARTTM sidewave and Soundwave post.
Love Squealer.
