Every Day Day is a Holiday

Recently, I went to Sydney for a couple of days to visit family and have my bridesmaid dresses fitted. I'm so excited for my cousin's wedding, I love weddings, well the food at least. I made it very clear to her that the cake should be distributed because when I go to a Vietnamese wedding, they never give out the cake and I get very disappointed. Anywho, it was a very short visit and I really wished I could live in Sydney and help out more with the planning, as you guys know I love party planning! The bridesmaid dress is so pretty; it's a maxi dress and obviously needs to be hemmed up by a lot! On thursday, I went out to the city to see my uni friend who is from Sydney. I didn't actually go to the harbour, but I didn't mind because I've already been there. We just walked around the city, and eating macarons. I'm so jealous that they have Laduree, but it wasn't as delicious as the ones I had in Paris, boy were they expensive! The city was pretty cool, and I was surprised that everything was in walking distance, however the options of trams would have been nice.
On Saturday, I went bridal dress shopping with my cousin and it was really cool, and my first time too. My cousin had a very specific dress in mind, and unfortunately couldn't find the perfect dress. However we stumbled upon a dressmaker that could custom make the dress for really cheap. They also had a little Pomeranian in the store who was sooo fricken cute!!!
On Sunday, my cousin took me op shopping, I may do a post on my op shop finds in another post. I love how my cousin and I love going op-shopping. It was surprising to have the op shops opening on a Sunday!! My cousin and I have been really close since we were young, I was known as her "tail" back then! We were the only female cousins in the family, and it sucks being in different states. Things are going to be so different when she gets married, and moving out of her parents house. I don't know how things are going to be when I visit, because I always stay in her room. Hopefully she gets her own house soon and I can stay with them.  I'm so awkward around my other family members.

Skeletons

Yellow Onesie/Jumpsuit Op-Shopped

The time of year between Christmas and the first couple weeks of January isn't my favourite, and this has a lot do to with op shops going on break. Whenever I get bored I love to op shop so during that time, I find solace in Spotlight instead. This results in buying so many craft items for projects that I mean to start, but never get around to doing. Seriously, I should learn to stick with one project and actually finish it. Anywho, I went op shopping for the first time in a while on Saturday, it wasn't a proper op shopping trip, I only went to one Salvos because my mum and I were waiting for a restaurant to open (Dragon Express in Sunshine, my work friend's dad owns the place, and we got free prawn crackers, okay well that's not thaat great, but any free stuff is good, and for some reason, the prawn crackers in restaurants taste better than the ones you fry at home).
I don't know what it is about onesies, but they are just so cool! So when I spotted this yellow one, I had to have it, now I'm not sure if its PJs or outer wear. The label looks like it's outerwear, but the actual garment suggests otherwise. I think this will become my permanent house wear, although it is a little see-through, so best to wear indoors. Anywho, I'm grateful that op shops are beginning to open again, but I am glad that volunteers were given a well-deserved break.

Can't Hold Back

T-shirt This Century Band Merch; Shirt Op-Shopped; Skirt Op-Shopped; Earrings Op-Shopped

Wait WHAT? Are those earrings on my ears??!! Well I'm sorry to say that they're only magnetic, and my ears lobes remain hole-less. I've been looking for magnetic earrings for soo long; those huge earrings displays in accessories stores are just teasing me. I came across these ones while op shopping yesterday, and thought they were so cool, and apparently they glow in the dark as well. They were new and all for the awesome price of 50 cents, I bought a couple of pairs so I can do some DIY on them. It feels weird to have something on my ears, I haven't worn them out properly so I'm not too sure of their staying power, but fingers crossed I don't lose them. Also I apologize for not having a full body photo, I originally did have one but the quality wasn't so great. Eventually I will have better grasp of photoshop, so I enhance the photos for your viewing pleasure, but bear with me and these straight-from-camera shots for now.

Everything's An Illusion

(yes I know the 3 is backwards...)

HEY GUYS! I'm back, well sort of, still in the process of updating my blog. You may notice that there hasn't been many changes, but if only you guys could see how long I've spent on the template page changing things around, realizing I will never grasp html design. However thanks to the wonderful world of the internet, there were tutorials floating around. I've yet to find a template that I love, for some reason when I try to "take inspiration" from other blogs and apply them to mine, it just looks infinitely uglier. Okay I'm about five days late for a new years post but better late than never.

Firstly I want to say how fast 2012 went by, I remember at the start of the year starting uni, all the way up in the Gold Coast, and how angry I was that I started a week earlier (in hindsight, that was only the beginning of what is yet to come, I start about 5 weeks earlier this year). I was still in disbelief that I'm actually doing dentistry and as always, worried if my socially awkward self will make new friends. This time I literally had no one. Fast forward to this year, I've made friends, somewhat gotten a little better with social situations and overcoming awkward moments, which I think was my new years resolution last year. To be honest, it was a hard year, being so far from family and friends, there were many moments I would miss them terribly and I'm even tearing up thinking about it now. I still have a lot of doubts about myself, for some reason there's this overwhelming feeling that I don't deserve to be doing dentistry. It's a feeling I really want to shake but it's only grown and festered in my mind. When I'm not thinking about how that, I think about the future, and how  I'm scared of becoming an unskillful/unsuccessful dentist. Well, those worries are related to the feelings of being unworthy of doing dentistry. I could dwell on these feelings but I won't because this was meant to a happy post with uplifting thoughts about the new year. So final words about 2012, it was hot, I made friends, kept in contact with old friends, and overall it was a pretty decent year, generally more good than bad.

So 2013, a new year and while NYE it was a small 'party' with my friend, we had fun, and that's all that matters. We shared a picnic balcony, watched fireworks, played with sparklers and took many posed photos!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also because it's the new year and I don't want to revert back but I just want to quickly mention the Mayday Parade concert in december and just how awesome it was. All I can say is that they are perfect and seeing them live again was such an enlightening and euphoric moment, despite being shoved and squeezed in the mosh pit and the crowd surfing, but what more do you expect from a concert. I like to think that all the pushing has made me skinnier (a very stupid notion, I know). They are one of my favorite bands and they even sang my favorite song, so yes it was perfect, no other words to describe it! Also there was another airport episode :)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As always I have some new years resolutions, mainly it's the typical ones like eating healthier, improving social skills etc, but there are some specific ones:
- Play more sport, I'm hoping that maybe my friends and I could get together and play sport once a week or so. I've come to terms about how bad and uncoordinated I am at sports but I admit it is fun to play, and have a laugh at yourself!
- Have more guys friends (this kinda impedes my goal of wanting to be the unknown one in my course by the end of our degree, but if I want at least a boyfriend by the time I'm 25, some sacrifices would have to made I guess)
And that's all, simple enough right?

There are also some goals I want for the blog:
-More frequent posts, and trying not to be so verbose
-More op-shops and clothes posts
-Start writing some craft posts/tutorials
-Document more of my life so I can share them on here :)
-I'm interested in doing more video posts, but no one wants to see my face that much right, well too bad =P

I hope your New Years was eventful and fun, and that 2013 will be an awesome year, my lame/cliched/unoriginal advice for the year, do at least one thing that makes you happy every day, and dwell on the positive :)

Anthem For A Dying Breed

It's been way too long since my last post, it's just that I got lazy as usual, busy with uni and exams, and of course my tv shows. Anywhoo I'll do my best to remember the important events.

My 21st Birthday Party
I had so much planned for this party as it was a milestone, but as always things in your head don't always get executed as planned. I think I just procrastinated way too much the first half of the holidays, thinking that I had plenty of time to make everything, however I'm still pretty happy with how it turned out, although I would have liked to pay more attention to the little details, like little signs and whatnot.
The highlight of the day was my "M" wall, and the home-made photo booth. I'm glad people got a lot of use out of it, mainly my Monash pharmily. It was awesome to catch up with everyone and hang out, and I liked that people were there for me, it's a nice feeling. We played some celebrity heads and obviously band hero.
Also I know I don't always have the best birthday cakes, but that's because I have so much on my plate the night beforehand so I can't dedicate much time to perfecting the cake. Generally my cakes are better, I swear. I'm so happy with my The Maine themed (although I wished they would have retweeted it), I love the band so much and I wish I could do parties for all my bands. It was awesome to see everyone, especially some people who I haven't seen for ages.
I'm sure you guys don't want a full every detailed recap, so I'll leave you with the photos...

Well I was going to write some more but I'm tired and it's late. Until next time which hopefully won't be that far in the future.

Hello World

My friend gave me her photos from our outings, so I thought I would share them. They're all from the things we did that I'm pretty sure I've blogged about before. And I am still very proud of my rainbow cake.

My blogging has been all over the place and I apologize for that. It's not that I don't have the time, I think its just the laziness,  I barely even study anymore, I basically spend my time sleeping and watching tv shows. It doesn't make it any better that the tv shows are coming back. Anywho, on with what's been happening to me.

Clubbing:
My friends had wanted to do an all nighter in Brisbane as a catharsis for the mid-sems that we recently had. I was still undecided about whether to go or not because clubbing isn't really my scene. In the end I decided to go because I wanted a new experience, and because I didn't want to stay at home again. Also my friends had managed to find some free entry clubs which was good because I had been spending a lot of money lately. We had pre-drinks at Amy's place, there were about 5 of us. Obviously because I don't drink, I had the lemon lime and bitters, although I did have some vodka diluted with soft drink. Ugh I don't understand how people drink or take shots, it's painful. They had poured some vodka into a water bottle so we could drink just before going into the clubs. My friends were already a little tipsy on the way to Brisbane. The train ride was good because of the free wifi. We got to this place a little out of the city called Fortitude Valley, it's packed with night clubs, and apparently it's a dodgy area as well. Actually I didn't feel safe stepping out of the station but luckily I had my friends. We had KFC for dinner and walked around exploring the place, the Chinatown was nice but really small. I thought the Chinatown in Melbourne was small. We found a dimly light stair well to sit and finish off the vodka, I felt very dodgy even though I wasn't even drinking. While trying to find the first night club, there were these promoters who were walking around and handing out flyers to get  you into a club. One of them had a promotion for a free drink, so we went into the club for the drink and left. It was still only around 9-ish, and I though that was late, but when we got to the first night club, there were barely any people. So we just stood awkwardly around, waiting for the place to pick up, eventually more people came but it still wasn't crowded or lively. So we decided to head off to the next club and it was Asian night, this club had $15 entry though. It was around 11.30pm when we got there, and the place still was relatively empty. There were these group of people who were really friendly and introduced themselves to us, I thought they knew one of my friends but I later found out they were just strangers. Those group of people were really into the dancing, especially girls dancing very err... provocatively. My friend ordered a long island ice tea, and I tried a bit and commented it just tastes like coke, but then I realized she hadn't mix the drink together yet, so I was just drinking the coke part, it was $18 for the drink which I thought was really expensive. Anywho so we were just dancing, and me dancing like a spaz, it wasn't just the small shifts side to side, but the full weird arm movements as well. I didn't really cared how I looked, it was a lot more fun to dance crazy, and it's not like I will see these people again. I like to think it was the alcohol (the minuscule amount that I had drunk) that made me loosen up. After a while, I saw that one of my friends was dancing with a guy, and I thought that was fine, then I turned around and they were making out. At this point I wasn't sure what to do, because she told me that at most she would only dance with a guy. Obviously you guys know how awkward I am in social situations, so I asked another friend to deal with it. He led my friend outside, so my other friend and I followed. Once we got outside, my friend with the guy had looked really drunk, so we got kicked out of the club. She sobered up outside but they still wouldn't let her back into the club. Anywho we went back to the club with the free drinks, and stayed there for a couple of hours. It was a really small club but there were still a number of people. This place was filled with quite desperate men, they kept trying to dance with my friends, which was a little awkward because then I was dancing alone. But my friend would pull me towards her so the guys could move away. Also by their looks they must of been late twenties or early thirties. At this place, they played pop music which wasn't too bad because I like to sing along when I'm dancing. I tried to request numerous songs but they never played them, and I got annoyed. After we left the club and tried to go back to the Asian club, unfortunately my friend tripped over her heels in line and they refused her entry. So we went back the first club, which had picked up a lot except I didn't like the DJ, he wasn't very good, no offence. Apparently they had UV stamps on your hands, and I thought their stamps were just out of ink. We hung out and danced in the club more. By this time, my friend was trying to get rid of the guy that she met, I swear he was very clingy. She stayed in the toilets for most of time, actually the toilets weren't too bad and they had automatic taps! (Okay, I have taken automatic taps for granted back in Melbourne, I haven't seen many in Qld). By around 3.30am, we walked my friend home, she was staying with her sister, and the house was pretty cool, and there were a lot of security locks and three security doors or something. Afterwards, we just hung out at Maccas waiting for the time to catch the train. I was just so dead by the time I got home which was around 7.30am, and plonked straight into bed. Overall it was an enjoyable clubbing experience, better than the one I had back in Melbourne where i got food poisoning from coffee. The clubs here are less pretentious and hipster, I think, not that I have been to many in Melbourne, there is so much more room to move and breath, and they are all located really close together, good for those who are wearing heels, I wasn't though. I hope to one day find the perfect club for, somewhere that plays my type of music, is that so hard to ask for?

Surfers Paradise Picnic:
On a Saturday, we decided to have a picnic at Surfers and do some general exploring. I made sushi and noodle salad in the morning. It was really good weather, and Surfers was so busy! I'm not a fan of beaches, too much sand but I didn't mind. I was trying to find the Surfers sign where Charles Trippy from the We The Kings was at, I did eventually find it (it wasn't that hard) and also went to the Starbucks that We the Kings went to as well, I still wished that they didn't come during exam period so I could have done more stalking! The picnic was awesome, except it was really windy, my friend made this epic fruit salad which was yummy! Surfers was a pretty cool place, although it was smaller than I thought. It has the same generic chain stores with a few boutique ones. Yeah, so if you're into beaches, I recommend Surfers, although it does already have a high rep, so it probably doesn't need my recommendation. Also I was wearing a circle skirt which I don't advise to wear in windy weather, it was constantly blowing up. Luckily i wore a tank top dress underneath so it didn't matter too much that it was blowing up.
